Client Profile:
In late 2018, a massive fire disaster destroyed the entire traditional part of Nggela, a village on the island of Flores, Indonesia.Some 27 families lost their homes within a few minutes, while the community of Nggela lost a central part of their cultural identity.
Tasks:
The following objectives were defined:
- Create a document to be used to contact specific potential donors for the reconstruction.
- Develop adequate organisational measures for the fire protection of the traditional houses in the villageof Nggela.
Results:
The report “Proposal for the reconstruction of the traditional village of Nggela in Flores, Indonesia” provides information on the two objectives. Reconstruct the traditional houses of Nggela does not only provide shelter to the affected families but gives back the substantial infrastructure to symbolically reunite all members of Nggela under one roof.
