Senior Expert Contact (SEC)

Promoting entrepreneurship through expertise – Imparting technical skills through volunteer work

The retired professionals of our SEC are qualified experts at site. They provide problem-solving solutions for small and medium enterprises in developing countries and in Eastern Europe.

The SEC was founded in 1979 and is a program of Swisscontact. Swisscontact is the business-oriented independent foundation for international development cooperation. Represented in 40 countries with over 1000 employees, Swisscontact promotes since 1959 economic, social and environmental development.
The SEC is part of the Swisscontact Development Programme, which is co-financed since 1993 by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA.

Impact Evaluation of SEC in Nepal 2018

Scribble video of a study conducted in August 2018 by a Swisscontact internal team. Interviews with proprietors and managers of 45 of the 138 SEC clients from 2013 – 2017 formed the largest part of the evaluation.
