Client Profile:
The owner is a young entrepreneur with a good vision of the industry.
He really understands the perspective of the actual or potential guest, which is fundamental to ensuring long term success.
Presently the hotel is closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic but within the next three to four years, the owner plans to open two altitude hotels in the Mustang valley and his native Manang valley.
Tasks:
- Despite the hotel being closed, I could offer advice and information on the organisation chart and staffing of the hotel and on the transitional phase for the three hotels planned in the future.
- Various operational issues were discussed, including training and career development for key personnel.
- An important connection to the Nepali tourist board was established.
Results:
In terms of operational strategies, the owner received good information. Although a Zoom contact is not the best way of providing detailed advice, (being on the spot to see things is always preferable), a good working relationship was developed. Success will be dependent, above all, on the resurgence of tourism into Nepal as there is no local market for luxury boutique hotels.
With a successful re-opening in mind, we were not able to work on the familiarisation with digital marketing, but the expert aims to find adequate sources of support.
