Client Profile:
The client is Biratnagar’s biggest school with around 2800 students and around 100 teachers, with classes from Nursery (age 3) to grade 10, with up to 6 parallel sections. The infrastructure of the school is comparably good.
The client was the best school in Eastern Nepal for the last 5 consecutive years.
Tasks:
More than 250 class visits on all levels from Nursery to grade 10, including feedback to the teachers. 21 Workshops for different groups of teachers and in different topics: pedagogical basics, playway methods for lower classes, teaching styles, teaching methods, the Hattie study, teaching english, science or mathematics, learning games, how to write understandable texts, demo-classes in maths and science, metacognition, etc.
1 workshop about management basics for the principal and the vice-principal. Evaluation of textbooks and the curricula.
Results:
While visiting the classes together with the experts, the management of BKVM realised for the first time, how inefficient and boring the teaching was. Thank to the following direct support, the teachers started to implement more efficient and child-centred teaching methods they had learnt in our workshops and through our feedbacks.
