Client Profile:
The client is an NGO, non-profit association of companies involved in the herbal, medical & aromatic plants (MAP) sector in Nepal. The association aims to increase the productivity and competitiveness of its member companies involved in sourcing, processing and trading, as well as improving the livelihoods of smallholder collectors and farmers at the origin of the value chain.
Tasks:
- Identification of barriers to income, growth & profitability in the sector
- Development of a strategic roadmap and key commercial initiatives to improve value capture of the MAP industry in Nepal
Results:
- Four main barriers to commercial growth were identified through interviews with local company leaders and experts.
- A business development framework was co-created with key local stakeholders, including concrete recommendations, guidance, and templates to address the major challenges – particularly those related to exporting MAP products.
- The resulting strategic roadmap provides a clear rationale and focus for follow-up fundraising, enabling action in the areas with the greatest impact.
