Client Profile:
The small family business has started 2014 and slowly and gradually grown with today 4 permanent employees. They produce and sell chips and frozen french fries (FFF) to restaurants and guesthouses in Kathmandu and Lukla.
Tasks:
- review and fine tune the latest new layout of production facility
- assess and optimise production organisation, efficiency and planning
- help resolve raw material supply issues creating quality concerns of FFF
- do a full financial business analysis and advise on future strategy and plans
- do de-bottle neck study with possible solutions and priorities
- create several standard operation procedures (SOP) and checklist
- train staff to develop a sound good manufacturing (GMP) culture
Results:
- reorganised the production process and procured new and more efficient cleaning tools and equipment
- resolved a quality issue concerning color change of FFF
- trained staff on quality and efficiency matters with simple checklists
- made a detailed financial study of the business
- assisted to do a full stock taking exercise with new forms and enforcement to maintain common FIFO (first in first out) concept
- made contact to two potential new potato suppliers including a local NGO
