Client Profile:
The client is a small enterprise with 1.5 outlets in La Paz. The only products the company manufactures and sells are Jawitas, a kind of crullers/pies stuffed with different fillings, mainly cheese. This typical Bolivian specialty is a meal in the range of Fast Food – consumption normally happens on the spot (inhouse), on the street, at the working place or at home.
6 employees are producing 2000 single pieces daily – hecho a mano.
Tasks:
- Create a unique product
- Introduce one-shift-production
A centerpiece of the Business Plan was to establish 12 outlets in the City of La Paz within two years. As a second priority we defined a line extension of the Jawitas.
An additional issue was the accelerated production with an updated machinery step by step.
Results:
After one year the Jawita Company operates eight outlets and is going to enlarge the chain in La Paz and in other Cities of Bolivia. The number of employees increased from 6 to 20, mainly women. A new production facility opened.
