Client Profile:
The school was established in 1994 by Mr. Hira Sharma Nepal as a small school in Banepa. Now it has around 1100 students from Nursery to grade 10. The infrastructure is better than in most of the schools we have seen until now: Big staff rooms, five smart-classes with e-boards, three work places with computers and internet access for teachers, two computer labs, a science labetc. On the other hand the teaching quality and the English level are still astonishing low.
Tasks:
Through many class visits including feedback to the teachers and different workshops we tried to improve the study level. We could observe some improvements since our last visit in 2017: All the teachers prepare their classes with the help of a lesson plan. But since the beginning 25 years ago the structure of the school management remained the same, but now we were able to change the quality management of the school: The Subject Coordinators have now more responsibilities.
Results:
Except in Pre-Primary many teachers were again eager to learn and to change their habits.
The principal already plans our third visit. He started to implement step by step the points we suggested to him. By starting to influence the management structure and the duty lists of the main in charges we tried to improve the overall performance of the school. The low quality of the Pre-Primary section is still a big problem for the Primary teachers and for the performance of the students in the upper classes.
