Client Profile:
The company is a family business with activities in beekeeping equipment and honeybee products. The parents and owner of the company are beekeepers themselves. Two sons and 4 employees are working in the production hall and the attached shop. They produce mainly honey and wax foundations and they already did some first developments of bee products for medical care. They approached SEC for support in Apitherapy knowledge.
Tasks:
General knowledge on apitherapy and corresponding products:
- Apitherapy as Naturopathy: history, development, effect of bee products
- Legal limits and possibilities
- The products in detail, application, production, quality issues
- Procurement of quality raw materials, ie the inclusion of beekeepers
Results:
We discussed future business options and the plans for a new factory. Based on my presentations we considered all possible apitherapy products based on honey, pollen, beebread, propolis, wax, royal jelly, bee venom, hive air and others. Thereby we encountered some problems in the surrounding, especially kind of beekeeping and nature of farming. At the end, we produced a summery of our discussion and we pointed on which the future work will focus in a first, second and third step.
