Client Profile:
The Municipality of Tirana provides, with 572 employees, the full range of public and local government related services. The department of education in cooperation with UNwomen, launched a progarm to empower women entrepreneurship by providing a business planning training, a lumpsum start-up grant and a two year support by a local mentor.
Tasks:
Support successful candidates in drafting realistic and viable business plans and help in the evaluation process by analysing and rating all (24) entered businses plans. Draft monitoring tools for measurement of business progress and quality check as well as guide, give input on process and tools for similar future project initiatives (lessons learnt).
Results:
At first, the SEC expert provided hands-on training to the candidates in basic cost, pricing and PnL calculation and projection. Mentors and trainers for future projects got a base training on business planning for small and micro business.
In four intense working days all entered cases were analised and rated, to provide a suggestion to the Evaluation Committee on distribution of funds.
The director in charge and the Mayor of Tirana stated that the project handling and the impact of the outcome where very satisfying. Based on this, similar projects shall be launched by the municipality of Tirana, as well as by UNWomen in other regions.
