Client Profile:
Swisscontact Ruanda in Kigali supports vocational education in the western province of Ruanda.The Vocational Training center (VTC) in Shangi was built some years ago by Swisscontact.
Now, the school needs further input in form of courses, as well as equipment to demonstrate new and alternative energy technologies, namely solar heating (water, cooking) and PV-Solar Home Systems.
Tasks:
Assessment of electrical department of VTC Shangi concering needed material to do theoretical and practical training in alternative energy technologies and design an introduction course to train teachers form neighbouring schools (TOT).
Results:
- List of needed PV-material has been selected and ordered at local markets.
- Course proposal for an introduction into Additive Energy Systems/Alternative Energy Technologies has been made and course material in English (25 pages) was taylored for the specific needs of VTC Shangi.
- A local expert was introduced and instructed in order to make him fit to held the course for 14 teachers at VTC Shangi.
